SPIFFY - A Tool for IBM Mainframe Programmers

New Version of Isogon’s SPIFFY Tool for IBM Mainframe Programmers Adds Enhanced Work-Saving Features

Powerful New User Features Increase IBM z/OS and ISPF Programmers’ Performance with “Cut ‘n’ Paste,” Global Configuration, and Permanent Command List Upgrades

New York, NY, June 2, 2005 – Isogon, the leading provider of mainframe Software Asset Management (SAM) solutions and IBM mainframe system tools, today announced enhancements and upgrades to its SPIFFY productivity tool for IBM’s Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) for mainframe programmers. SPIFFY version 5.8 is now available with a number of enhancements that significantly boost ISPF user productivity and increase administrative management features. Isogon’s development team has added multiple features that include improved “OLIST” performance, “Cut and Paste” functionality, enhanced “COPY” functionality to include Alias members, increased “Permanent Command List” size, enhanced support for the “Table-Handler” feature, and administrative user overrides with a new “Global Configuration” settings panel.

Isogon’s SPIFFY has increased the daily performance and productivity of countless IBM mainframe programmers using ISPF tools. Because SPIFFY is tightly integrated into ISPF functionality it acts as a centralized, object-oriented development center. SPIFFY offers immediate access to a substantial new set of tools designed specifically for ensuring high productivity across any programming team. Version 5.8 has improved functionality in several critical areas. The new version has boosted “Object List – OLIST” performance by moving ISPF tables to the “Table-Handler” tables; this allows for almost unlimited list sizes. Administrators can create global OLISTS that users can now view and save as desired. SPIFFY’s “Cut and Paste” functionality now supports an unlimited number of clipboards with unlimited widths, as well as complete emulation of ISPF’s “Clipboard Manager.”
“These enhancements to SPIFFY are driven by Isogon’s total commitment to create and support the most advanced IBM z/OS system support tools in the industry,” said Ron Nabors, Isogon’s Senior Vice President Sales and Chief Marketing Officer. “We continually take ISPF user feedback and suggestions to our SPIFFY development team in order to drive priority enhancements that will have a measurable impact on ISPF use and productivity gains. Beyond those improvements, we also understand the value of each administrator’s time and have added more features that cut how much time they spend managing their SPIFFY user and software upgrades.”
