Opsware's multimaster replication engine and satellite functionality give administrators the ability to build and manage servers located in any data center or remote location from a single console. It is designed specifically for IT organizations that are tasked with managing servers in multiple locations. The multimaster replication engine helps keep global data centers synchronized by automatically replicating key data components of the Opsware System's information system across all data centers. The Opsware Satellite breaks through the difficultities bandwidth constraints and network complexity to deliver data center quality of service to remote servers.

Replicates all the information needed to build or manage a server. The multimaster replication engine synchronizes the information and software required to build or manage a server.

Enables remote management from a single console. Administrators can use the Opsware Command Center to build and manage servers in remote data centers or remote facilities. The Opsware System automatically routes management tasks to the right server using intelligent proxying techniques to locate and transmit instructions to servers in other data centers.

Replicates software on-demand. Opsware's intelligent replication and caching algorithms ensure that only the software packages needed in a particular data center are stored locally.

Replicates information in near real-time. The Opsware System automatically replicates all crucial information needed to build or manage a server in near-real time.

Secure communication channels. The Opsware System replicates information over a secure connection offered by underlying services. Unauthorized users are prevented from viewing the traffic or introducing their own data into the communication channel that connects data centers.

Unified and replicated audit trail. The Opsware System maintains a digitally signed audit trail of all the management tasks Opsware users performed on a server. This log is automatically replicated among or between data centers, ensuring that multiple copies of the audit trail exist.
